Joseph Mubanga: Guiding Families Toward Lasting Financial Legacies
It all began with a simple yet powerful realization: true financial freedom doesn’t come from working for someone else, it comes from creating, protecting, and growing your own legacy. At the heart of this journey is Joseph Mubanga, CEO of Mercury Legacy LLC, whose vision and leadership have turned what once seemed like a hopeless cause into a thriving mission.
Guided by unwavering values, Joseph has built a team committed to reducing financial risk, managing taxes efficiently, and helping families across all 50 states create lasting legacies. Under his leadership, Mercury Legacy is leveraging AI, social media, and education to expand its reach, while also preparing to launch a podcast series in mid-2026 that brings CEOs, scientists, and thought leaders together to spark meaningful conversations.
From the Fields of Zambia to Building Lasting Legacies
Before Mercury Legacy ever existed, Joseph was a young boy growing up in Zambia, Africa, in circumstances that taught him the meaning of resilience long before he fully understood the world. Born into a very poor family as the youngest of twelve siblings, Joseph faced immense challenges early in life, both of his parents passed away while he was still young, and his older brothers and sisters stepped into roles far beyond their years to raise him. From them, he learned that family is not just important, it is everything. Survival, responsibility, and love were never abstract ideas; they were daily realities.
From a young age, soccer became Joseph’s refuge, his passion, and his teacher. He attended boarding school, where discipline, teamwork, and perseverance were not optional. Soccer opened doors that poverty could never have provided. He went on to play professionally and earned the honor of representing the Zambian National Team. Wearing his country’s colors became one of the proudest moments of his life, teaching him that no matter where you start, commitment and belief can carry you further than imagined.
Eventually, Joseph’s journey brought him to the United States, where he continued his professional soccer career with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. As his playing career slowed, he transitioned into coaching and refereeing, experiences that deepened his understanding of leadership, accountability, and mentorship. Soccer taught him how to lead without ego, perform under pressure, and uplift others even when the spotlight was not on him.
Yet passion alone does not pay the bills. Like many immigrants pursuing the American Dream, Joseph worked relentlessly, often holding multiple jobs simultaneously. He served as a nursing assistant, delivery carrier, postal worker, soccer coach, rideshare driver, groundskeeper, personal trainer, and more. While grateful for every opportunity, he realized that hard work alone was not enough to achieve true financial security. This reality pushed him to ask deeper questions about money, freedom, and the systems we are taught to trust.
Throughout it all, one constant grounded Joseph: his faith. He learned about God at a young age, and prayer has remained central to his daily life. He seeks guidance, wisdom, and humility every day. His values, faith, family, discipline, service, and perseverance were not cultivated in boardrooms; they were forged through struggle, responsibility, and unwavering belief.
Turning Frustration into Financial Freedom
The idea behind Mercury Legacy was born from both frustration and clarity. Joseph realized something deeply unsettling: schools do not teach people how money truly works. Even more concerning, immigrants are often given only one piece of advice “work hard and everything will be fine.” Joseph followed that advice faithfully, yet financial freedom remained out of reach.
No one had explained how market risk, fees, and taxes quietly erode wealth. No one had taught how to protect income, grow assets safely, or build something that lasts beyond a lifetime. Joseph saw hardworking families doing everything “right” yet remaining financially vulnerable.
Determined to find answers, he educated himself, reading extensively, seeking guidance from financial professionals, and asking the uncomfortable questions most people avoid. That journey revealed a powerful truth: working for someone else alone will never create true financial freedom. Ownership, education, and strategy matter.
Mercury Legacy was created to close that gap. Joseph’s mission is to help individuals and families eliminate unnecessary risks, reduce fees, manage taxes efficiently, and build lasting financial legacies. His focus is not on quick wins but on long-term stability, dignity, and empowerment. Through Mercury Legacy, Joseph aims to transform not only his own family’s future but also help others reclaim control over theirs.
Creating Success Beyond Limits
At Mercury Legacy, Joseph leads with humility. He believes that growth without humility leads to ego, and ego disconnects you from purpose. Every innovation and decision is filtered through one guiding question: does this serve our mission and our clients?
Under Joseph’s leadership, the company has also embraced the power of saying “no.” Not every opportunity is the right one, and protecting core values is far more important than chasing short-term profit. Mercury Legacy is intentionally growing its team and investing deeply in training, placing education at the center of everything it does. By developing well-prepared, ethical agents, Joseph ensures that growth never comes at the expense of quality or integrity.
For Joseph, leadership is lived, not claimed. He models the behaviors he expects from his team how to speak, how to respond under pressure, and how to treat others even when no one is watching. He holds himself to high standards because true leadership demands consistency, humility, and accountability.
Balancing Life, Family, and Legacy of Influence
Joseph and Mercury Legacy do not believe in cookie-cutter solutions. Every client has a unique story, background, and goal. Under Joseph’s guidance, the team takes the time to listen deeply, understand individual needs, and design strategies that are truly personal. That level of care builds trust and trust, in turn, creates lasting impact.
Having his wife as a business partner is one of Joseph’s greatest blessings. Together, they navigate challenges, celebrate wins, and grow both personally and professionally. They prioritize physical, mental, and emotional health by making time for exercise, reflection, and joy. They focus on the present moment, practice daily gratitude, and lead by example, demonstrating that meaningful impact begins with balance.
Mercury Legacy is also embracing innovation to expand its mission. Under Joseph’s leadership, the firm leverages AI and social media to reach and educate more individuals and families. The company is increasingly invited onto podcasts and professional platforms, and in mid-2026, they will launch their own podcast series featuring CEOs, scientists, medical professionals, and business leaders to elevate meaningful conversations.
The Foundations of Lasting Impact
Joseph believes that “Rome was not built in a day.” Under his leadership, Mercury Legacy embraces the idea that meaningful work requires patience, clarity, and resilience. Failure is not avoided, it is recognized as an essential part of the journey. Joseph encourages his team and clients alike to stay focused, remain committed, and remember that consistency always beats speed.
Mercury Legacy is expanding its reach to serve clients in all 50 states while continuing to grow its team with intention and excellence. Joseph’s approach to leadership is deeply rooted in faith and self-belief: he encourages speaking daily affirmations, setting clear goals, and trusting that challenges are preparation, not punishment. Purpose-driven leadership may not be easy, but under Joseph’s guidance, it is infinitely more fulfilling.
Committed to continuous growth and staying ahead of evolving trends, Joseph has shaped Mercury Legacy into more than just a company; it is a mission to educate, empower, and create a legacy that will outlive them.
