Dr. Vaques George: Innovator in Biotechnology and Space-Forward Health Solutions
The most enduring advancements are those rooted in a sense of purpose, those which transcend individual ambition and seek to solve the challenges of today for the benefit of our shared futures.
From an early age, Dr. Vaques George was driven by curiosity and a deeper love for understanding. Where others saw biology and engineering as separate domains, he saw an intersection rich with potential, capable of serving humanity’s future, both on Earth and among the stars.
This curiosity at an early stage shaped a worldview grounded in humility: that any progress measured on a planetary scale, means little in the grander scheme of things if it forgets what it is meant to serve, and why. The study of the cosmos humbles any selfish intentions or desires.
This philosophy defines Dr. George’s leadership today as Founder and CEO of A Biotech Company, and as COO and Head of the UK Office at SHE ORBITS. He encourages young scientists and entrepreneurs to embrace uncertainty, to treat ‘failure’ as information rather than defeat, and to cultivate curiosity without fear. But above all, he believes culture is significant. His teams are challenged to think like scientists and entrepreneurs simultaneously rigorous yet imaginative, bold yet responsible.
For Dr. George, scientific innovation is never just about what can be built. It is about why it is built. His leadership insists on clarity of purpose: ensuring that technology advances wellbeing, equity, and sustainability at a global scale. Through his work across biotechnology and space-oriented exploration, he strives to align discovery with wisdom so that humanity’s next frontiers are approached with care, insight, compassion, and understanding.
Several defining moments have shaped his path, reinforcing a truth he returns to often: capability without conscience is fragile, and power without perspective never lasts. At A Biotech Company, and through SHE ORBITS, his mission is to guide science and exploration not by ambition alone, but the impact of thoughtful, humane leadership can endure far beyond them.
From Regenerative Science to Responsible Innovation for Humanity’s Future
Dr. George’s journey into biotechnology was driven by a deep curiosity about life itself, how it adapts, regenerates, heals, creates, and endures. From an early age, he was drawn to the intersection of biology and engineering, seeing it not only through the lens of medicine and technology, but through its potential to serve humanity and shape its future.
This vision led him to pursue a BSc and PhD at University College London (UCL) in the Manufacturing of New Regenerative Medicines, alongside a Master of Research in Biomedicine at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. His academic training specialized in the bioprocessing of cell and gene therapies, with a particular focus on next-generation immunotherapies, including CAR-T cells, gamma-delta T cells, and extracellular vesicles (EVs), a novel class of cell-free therapeutic medicines and nanoscale delivery systems.
Over time, Dr. George’s research expanded into understanding how engineered cells and vesicles communicate with the immune system and deliver molecular therapies without reliance on viral vectors. His work at UCL’s Department of Biochemical Engineering and the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health cemented a guiding belief: biotechnology must be both visionary and practical, driven by rigorous data, yet deeply human in purpose.
This philosophy became central to his leadership style. For Dr. George, scientific innovation is not merely about creating technology, but about enabling wellbeing, equity, and sustainability at a global scale. Leadership in biotechnology, in his view, requires bridging imagination with integrity ensuring that every discovery contributes meaningfully to quality of life and to the health of both people and planet.
When he founded A Biotech Company, Dr. George did not aim to create a conventional biotech startup. Instead, he set out to build a platform for cross-sector innovation, one capable of advancing human health, sustainability, and exploration of future frontiers, including space, off-world habitation, and potentially beyond.
Aligning Science, Equity, and Enterprise to Expand Human Potential
What unites these efforts is a single principle: leveraging biology responsibly and intelligently to expand human potential. Under Dr. George’s leadership, the company does not seek to simply engineer therapies, it seeks to engineer possibilities for wellbeing, longevity, and resilience, for both on Earth and beyond.
He sees SHE ORBITS as a bridge connecting talent to opportunity, and ambition to meaningful impact. Diversity of thought and experience introduces new questions, deeper insights, and more ethical approaches to innovation. Dr. George believes the future of scientific leadership will belong to those who cultivate this richness of perspective, and he is committed to ensuring that both SHE ORBITS and A Biotech Company reflect this principle in practice.
For Dr. George, collaboration is also a moral imperative. Science is a collective language of progress, and breakthroughs are amplified when shared responsibly. This networked approach enables A Biotech Company to accelerate discovery while remaining ethically grounded.
Ethical foresight is equally essential. As technologies such as CRISPR and AI advance, the defining questions become not only can something be done, but should it be done and how. Responsible innovation, in Dr. George’s view, is not optional; it is foundational to maintain trust and ensure biotechnology serves humanity.
Vision for Science, Society, and Space
Dr. George’s academic experiences shaped far more than his technical expertise they instilled in a way of thinking. At University College London (UCL), he learned to connect molecular biology to systemic outcomes, and to see how scientific rigor can coexist with translational ambition. During his time at the Institute of Child Health, he witnessed firsthand how collaboration, mentorship, and curiosity can generate truly transformative impact.
Dr. George’s journey into leadership began well before founding A Biotech Company. His first university degree was in the Business of Manufacturing New Medicines, a pioneering program so forward-looking that he was the first and only applicant in its inaugural cohort. The program was deliberately designed at the intersection of business, biochemistry, and biotechnology, exploring how scientific innovation becomes scalable, sustainable, and impactful through bioprocessing and biomanufacturing of new regenerative medicines. This early exposure shaped his ability to bridge discovery with deployment.
Balancing science and leadership, in Dr. George’s view, is a matter of perspective and intention. As a scientist, he is grounded in data, experimentation, and discovery. As a CEO, he makes decisions, allocates resources, and leads teams. The harmony lies in moving fluidly between these worlds, asking the right questions at the right time and translating insight into action.
Beyond Earth, through project acceptance at FALAK for Space Science and Research in Saudi Arabia, Dr. George in collaboration with UCL and Princess Nourah University (Riyadh), are studying how biological systems behave in microgravity. These insights may unlock novel regenerative mechanisms, inform therapeutic design, and ultimately improve patient care on Earth while advancing human health in space.
Dr. George encourages young scientists and entrepreneurs to embrace uncertainty, to treat failure as information, and to cultivate curiosity without fear. He believes the most profound breakthroughs emerge from asking questions others hesitate to ask and from exploring the unknown. He also urges innovators to build with purpose, emphasizing that innovation detached from societal impact is incomplete. Whether in biotechnology, space, or sustainability, meaningful work must extend beyond the laboratory to patients, communities, and the planet.
For Dr. George, the future of humanity in health, space, and collective consciousness depends not only on how far progress is reached, but on how wisely it is pursued. This philosophy underpins everything he does. Through A Biotech Company and SHE ORBITS, he remains committed to ensuring that science, innovation, and exploration are guided not merely by capability, but by wisdom that humanity’s next frontiers are navigated with care, insight, compassion, and long-term responsibility.
